A Four-engined Avro Lincoln bomber crashed across Middle Street in Hemswell, slithering across the road, 30 yards away, heading straight for a house as a woman was having her breakfast on May 13, 1955.

"I didn't hear a thing," Mrs Robinson, of Cliff House, said. "I didn't know anything about the crash until I saw the fire engine outside."
