THE personal effects of a heroic Dambusters pilot have gone on public display for the first time since his death on a combat mission in the Second World War.

Wing Commander Guy Gibson's personal flying log, dress hat and letters he signed while based at RAF Scampton, north of Lincoln, are on display for the rest of this month at the Marylebone Cricket Club Museum at Lord's Cricket Ground in St John's Wood, London.
