Summary
IN response to the comments and criticism made against myself by Sue Humphries ('There is only one answer to city rail woes', August 3), if she had taken more time to read my original letter, she would have seen the main purpose of it was to raise concerns about the times the level crossings close and no train at all comes.
Mrs Humphries rightly states that Network Rail has spent Pounds 50 million updating the service. But this is the problem that she fails to see. If the money is spent on improving the service, why are the gates closing and no trains arrive? Is it because the system has faults or at the very least is not working correctly and hence signalmen are needed to reopen the gates? The writer goes to great length to explain what a county councillor should know. The one object the council didn't supply was a crystal ball. If it did, of course, I could stand at the crossing and see when the gate closes and no train is going to come.See the full content of this document
