Summary
1. Plant your clematis deeply, allowing the first two sets of leaves to be buried underground. If a clematis planted this deeply is hit by wilt, it will usually come back from below the ground.
2. Site the clematis correctly. It prefers to grow where its flowers are in the sun but the roots remain cool.
