Taking to an amphibious truck on February 13, 1953, the Duke of Edinburgh visited the Lincolnshire coast flood areas of Mablethorpe and Sutton-on-Sea to see the devastation for himself.
He boarded the 'DUKW' vehicle at Mablethorpe and was ferried to Acre Gap, where he walked along the 400 yards of wall built to keep out the high tides expected during that coming weekend.See the full content of this document
