The number of schoolchildren in Lincolnshire schools earmarked for great things has jumped by more than a third in the past year.

Figures released by the Department for Children, Schools and Families show that in 2007 there were 6,201 children in Lincolnshire secondary schools identified as 'gifted and talented' by teachers.
